Underbelly Named in Top 5 Restaurant Openings for 2012

Bon Appetit magazine has named Underbelly as one of its Top 5 Hottest Restaurant Openings in America in 2012. Underbelly is a new venture by Houston restauranteur Chris Shepherd (founding chef at Coppa f/k/a Catalan) and Bobby Heugel (of Anvil fame) to create a restaurant that tells “The Story of Houston Food.” Bon Appetit describes Underbelly plans to have it’s own “[i]n-house charcuterie, on-premises butcher shop, and fresh cuts of goat, lamb, veal, and–of course–pork from [Chris Shepherd’s] own herds.” Underbelly will open in January 2012 right across from El Real Tex Mex in Montrose.You can follow Underbelly’s progress on Facebook and Twitter.
