Some of you may have heard by now but for those who haven’t, my brother-in-law (Brian Fasthoff) and my husband (Hank Fasthoff) are opening Batanga, a new Latin American restaurant concept at 908 Congress in Downtown Houston. Batanga is at the corner of Travis & Congress, across from Market Square Park, beneath the Clock Tower and next door to the forthcoming OKRA Charity Saloon. The space was formerly occupied by the highly acclaimed Tasca restaurant and features a 3,600 square foot outdoor patio beneath beautiful cypress trees. Many say it’s the best patio downtown.

With more than 18 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Brian will be overseeing day-to-day operations. During his tenure in the industry, Brian has held every front- and back-of-the-house position, and has been an owner-operator of three successful restaurants during the last 12 years.

Batanga is a Latin American tapas restaurant featuring dishes from various regions in Latin America, such as Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Colombia, as well as dishes from Spain and Portugal. We’ll be open for lunch and dinner seven days per week, and brunch on Sunday, with take away and catering service available.

Best of all, check out our 3,600 square foot outdoor patio across the street from Market Square Park, right underneath the historic Houston Clock Tower.

Please follow @BatangaHouston on Twitter and Like the Batanga Facebook Page so you can stay tuned for more updates about Batanga’s concept, our progress, special events and our opening date, which we are projecting for early 2013.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the restaurant when we open!
